Dimensions of Photography
Dimensions of Photography is an exploration into various perspectives of photographic media, material, process, subject, and representation. The selected works range from Greig’s “Representations”, which combine photography and drawing that explores the concept of photographic truth and its correspondence to perceived reality, to Blakely’s layered “Domestic Weather Patterns,” which begin with the personal and familiar, yet strive to transcend the space and time of the specific photograph. While Whalen, through a pinhole eye, searches for intimate contact and lived histories imbedded into discarded domestic objects of the past, Shimmin takes us to the overlooked, or perhaps underlooked, places of our local landscape, yielding images that are atmospheric and heavy with the feeling of time and memory. The approach taken by each artist is a unique examination into the process, subject, material, and dimension of image making.
